In a recent chat with Energy Live News, Emma Pinchbeck, who heads Energy UK, delved deep into the pressing matters rattling the energy sector. She shed light on the daunting task of ensuring energy remains affordable while simultaneously steering the ship towards a decarbonised economy.

Emma candidly expressed to ELN, “From the industry's perspective, it feels as though the storm hasn't passed. Add the newly erupted tensions in the Middle East into the mix, and we might be bracing ourselves for a particularly tough winter on the global stage."

She further elaborated on the UK's stance, saying, "For the upcoming Autumn Statement, what we're earnestly seeking from the Chancellor is more transparency around our investments. The recent offshore wind auction, for instance, didn’t quite hit the mark. What's clear is that we need a more inviting fiscal environment to encourage inward investments."

Emma also highlighted a poignant issue, "This winter might be daunting for several households. Our estimates suggest around nine million individuals could find it challenging to meet their energy bills. With this in mind, the industry is collaborating with regulators, hoping to extend more support to those vulnerable during these colder months."
