Termination Notice Change.
From February 2022, the need for customers to submit a termination notice is being removed. Please see below some answers to questions you may have around the reasons behind this change and what it means for your business.
So what does this change mean?
Scottish Power no longer require customers to give us notice of termination.
Scottish Power will no longer object to switches where termination notice isn’t provided.
How will this impact SME Customer contracts?
For customers on a Fixed Price tariff: their contract will end on the day after their current contract end date. After this date they are free to switch suppliers or choose another contract with Scottish Power.
If the customer does not choose another contract or move supplier, they will automatically be moved onto a Standard Fixed tariff.
For customers on a Standard Fixed, Standard Variable or Deemed tariff: they can end their contract at any time by switching supplier or agreeing a fixed contract with Scottish Power or an alternative supplier.
What is the reason for this change?
To simplify the change of supplier process, which will in turn reduce admin for the customer
To align to changes Ofgem are expected to make in the near future.
Should you now miss your termination window, you will no longer have to wait for 28 days before any new supplier / contract can take affect.
