Dyce Energy stop supply after 30/11/2021

Updated: Nov 10, 2023

We have today received notification from Dyce Energy that they are unfortunately no longer able to supply gas to their customers currently in a contract due to the national crisis and factors outside of their control (CNG exiting the shipper market). They have now been left exposed on the open market to a 400% to 500% wholesale gas price increase in some circumstances.

As a result, they are no longer able to supply gas to their customers after 30th November 2021. In normal trading circumstances, they could have absorbed the cost but as prices have increased so much, it is not financially viable for them to do so. They have advised that they have been able to secure alternative tariffs backed by a large energy supplier who can maintain the provision of gas throughout Winter and beyond. We have been told that you will still have access to your portal to check bills, upload meter reads and more.

In the coming days, all customers will receive a letter from Dyce to explain further. In the spirit of putting customers first, they are happy for you to now move to a new supplier should a more competitive tariff become available to what they have secured (with the other supplier) and you can switch with immediate effect. To do this, you will have to have signed up to one of their new tariffs or agreed to move to a new supplier no later than 12th November 2021.

If nothing is done by you, you will be placed on their standard variable tariff which is £4 per day standing charge and a 16p/kWh unit rate.

If you have a contract in place and they continue to trade as an entity is that even legal? Is it not their responsibility to hedge their supplies to meet their contractual obligations?

Hi, Dyce Energy originally traded as Dyce Energy LTD which was the company that left the market. They re-entered as Dyce Utilities LTD T/A Dyce Energy so technically a new company. They are now using another supplier to obtain their prices which is why customers were left on their Deemed rates.

Are you out of contract currently? If so, we can help get you prices to look through?
